Input Lag for Different Games

$

This is a topic that interests me greatly. I've been posting some results in the Arcade Stick Lag thread, but felt that it was probably appropriate to have its own thread. I'll try to compile some of the useful sources, and then present some of my results.

Previously several different people/groups have looked at some games to determine how different response times differ.

http://www.displaylag.com/video-game-input-lag-database/ has a large collection of different games across various systems, updated to include SFV.

Battle(non)sense looked at the issue and produced a video with their results.

The controversy over USF4 on PS4 generated several tests, inlcuding this one.

Hi, i bought an used Venom arcade stick.. It doesn't work on my PC with Windows 10 pro 64bit. I've read that it should work on PC..

When i plug the stick the error says "USB device not recognized: The last USB device you connected to this computer malfunctioned, and Windows does not recognize it."
And in Device Manager says "Windows has stopped this device because it has reported poblems. (Code 43) A request for the USB device descriptor failed."

I've tried evrything, differents ports and differents PCs.. PS3 mode, PS4 mode etc etc. It's my stick broke or something? Someone else have the same stick with windows 10?

Sorry for my english and thanks for the help.

*** UPDATE ***

Turned out that my stick was broken, fortunately i've managed to return it.. i've bought a new one that works with no problem, thanks for the help.

Qanba Q4 RAF stick button distance vs Ultra Ulia, which one to buy?

$

Hi guys!
I want to buy a second arcadestick besides the one that I already have.
The model that caught my eye is the qanba q4 raf. I did some reading in the amazon reviews and some people mentioned
that the spacing between the stick and the buttons/or the buttons themselves !? is too narrow for them with the qanba.

Since I already have an ultra ulia and I'm quite happy with it, can someone tell me if the distances between the stick and the first two buttons is about the same for the two sticks or if there is some kind of major difference.
The button layout after the first two buttons is completely different. For one stick it goes up for the other it goes down.
I guess it kinda goes down to personal preference which layout is to prefer.
Which layout do you guys like better and why?

Also another thing that I'm wondering about, is the placement of the start button on the qanba stick, does it get in the way when using the outer two buttons of the eight in terms of accidental presses or anything ?
Is it also possible to mount a ls-32 instead of the sanwa stick without any major modifications in the qanba ?

Since I want it to be also compatible with the xbox 360...I guess my main question would be, should I buy a second ultra ulia and mod it with an after market pcb or am I better off with buying the qanba

Thank you :)

Is my stick broken.

I am having something weird happen with my stick. It is a Mad Catz TE1 for the 360. I use it on PC.

Everything works the way it should. The problem is with down on the stick. If I tap it down or do QCF motions everything is fine. But if I hold down for a second or so, when I let go, the character on screen stays down a little and then stands up. If during this period I press something else or move the stick they get up and do what I want them to. Its just annoying if I am specifically wanting to crouch for a bit and then stand up straight again. Like ducking a projectile or whatever.

It does it with all games I play.

Anyone ever opened up a Hori Ehrgeiz Stick?

I've got one of these little beauties coming in the mail from overseas right now and I'd like to upgrade it with a Sanwa JLF joystick and some Seimitsu PS-14-KN buttons when it arrives, but I've had absolutely zero luck finding any pictures of what the stick looks like on the inside so I'm not sure what all supplies I'll need to do the upgrade. I have done the same JLF + Seimitsu buttons upgrade to a Hori T5 stick before, so I'm definitely prepared to drill out the restrictor plate and desolder the original buttons from the PCB then wire it up if that's what will be necessary, I'm just hoping that someone might be able to post a picture or two of the inside of one of these Ehrgeiz Sticks so I'll know whether it can be upgraded the same way as a Hori T5 or if a different procedure will be required.

Any help would be greatly appreciated! :)

I won't make too many assumptions, but it looks like a budget stick. (EDIT- It is)
I believe we need more budget sticks on the market to get more new fighting game players familiar with using arcade sticks at a reasonable cost.

The base looks a bit thin by the photo, so I'm unsure if a JLF shaft would clear that. (EDIT- Likely will be high enough to swap joysticks, mentioned mod friendly by MarkMan on Twitter)

May not be Sanwa parts to keep costs low.

It's cooler (6 button) instead of dick (8 button) which is BADASS (This sentence is an SRK Tech Talk inside joke. Don't take it personally)

PS4 streaming question

Tried streaming recently on PS4 and had an audio issue. Game audio came through fine on stream but there was no voice audio. I plugged in my headphones into the dualshock but when I use my stick the controller turns off. Is there any way around this? Unfortunately my stick doesn't have a headphone jack either. Tried looking at the settings on PS4 but that just made me more confused. Any help would be appreciated. Apologies to the mods if this is in the wrong section.

Brook Universal Fighting Board into a Hori SCV stick. Help appreciated.

I recently picked up the version of the Brook Universal Fighting Board with all soldered headers (thanks, Paradise Arcade Shop). While I’m decent with wire strippers and a crimp tool, my soldering skills are surely not up to snuff. I’d like to avoid soldering if at all possible..

Here are the button functions that I’d really like to retain that are part of the sub pcb on the top button panel:
- PS
- Select
- L3
- R3

The following are nice-to-haves but really are not a priority:
- Port LEDs (1-4)

The rest I don’t care about at all (don’t use ‘em)
- Turbo
- Turbo LED
- Toggle switches

I’ve done my best to trace what’s what on the sub and main pcbs. Take a look and let me know if my guesses are correct.

Sub PCB
29c9bon.jpg

Main PCB
2j1jsjd.jpg

Now I see only one ground wire and one VCC wire on the sub pcb (well..at least feeding the right ribbon cable).

jq3r15.png

But the Brook Universal Fighting Board manual states that I’ll need the following:
1. Dedicated Ground for Start/Select/PS
2. Dedicated Ground L3/R3
3. Dedicated VCC for Port LEDs

2wmffdi.jpg

I could most likely daisy chain a ground wire feeding from the Start button (off in the corner of the case). If that’s the case, I could then use the ribbon cable Ground wire (for L3/R3) and VCC wire (for the Port LEDs)…right?

This is making my head hurt, so thanks in advance for your input.

Currently I've noticed a lot of threads opened up for worklogs and basic building advice, so I wanted to create a thread geared specifically towards woodworking (lets mash em' together). If you are a first time builder looking for a little help or a veteran builder who wants to exchange ideas about your next projects, go over different techniques (hell even your best accidents) here's the place. If you would like to post pics of your work in production for assistance or to show off your workshop.

If asking questions please list your current tools/paint/finishing supplies as there may be someone out there with a few tips or tricks specific to the brand you're using ;)
My current setup:
Dewalt table saw
Custom Router Table
Craftsman Router
Porter Cable Router
Ryobi router 1/4" collet w/table
Vintage industrial floor standing drill press
Rigid Bandsaw
Leigh Dovetail jig

Can you make a Crown 303-FK silent?

Im a family these days so being able to play without waking up the house is pretty key for me. I have been getting more and more curious to try the Crown 303-FK but was wondering if I could change the microswitches to the Omron D2RV-G switches instead since I believe those are the silent ones. Any Idea if I can just add levers to the switches? If anyone has some knowledge please help me out :).

Hey I got a te-s from my friend and I wanted to remove the art from it to put some new art on it eventually. When I went to remove the screws one of them would only come out so far, turns out the screw was stripped and when I tried to remove it the metal panel got bent as you can see in the picture. Is there any way I can replace this and ad art to this?

Questions about the Qanba Dragon and Obsidian

So i'm looking for a new stick to buy to eventually convert to a hitbox and I really like the look of the Obsidian and the Dragon. I noticed that below their plexi is this metal plate that seems fairly easy to remove. To anyone who owns these sticks, are the metal plates easy to remove, and will doing so hurt the stability of the stick?

Silent sanwa engage distance differs

$

Hi, noob here! My Sanwa JLF-TPRG-8AYT-SK seems to engage at a further distance to the right than to the left. Seems like the plunger on the right microswitch needs to be pressed further before activation. I don't have to hit the gate or anything for it to activate but compared to the left there's some extra movement needed. Left is almost instant when moved. The problem isn't the end of the world but now that I've noticed it's gonna bug me. I've tried and noticed it with both stock and Kowal actuator.

Should I buy a new microswitch, try to move the one I've got or perhaps try inserting something in the switch to move the plunger closer to the stick (like in ultimate mod). Is there perhaps another solution?

Can't update windows...

So basically long story short, i had a power outage recently, whatever happened after my PC rebooted it totally jacked up the registery I tried for hours fixing it, but even after fixing as much as I could see that was wrong, i was still having problems. Searching this on the internet apparently after power outages this actually can happen. Scary.. and well irksome to say the least. Whatever the case I gave up trying to fix it and had to basically reformat my computer.

Now next problem so now im back at windows 8, now unfortunately it will now allow me to update windows 8.1. When I go to the store it says windows 8.1 is no longer available to download in the store. When I try to download it manually it says this is no longer supported. So ive been stuck in this loop of basically microsoft is no longer supporting windows 8, but at the same time its no longer allowing me to update to 8.1 either no matter what I do or have tried. So right now I just got basically a random mess of bullshit. Like I said ive tried to manually download the update as well which is confusing to me as to it just wont seem to install it very confusing.

Any ideas?

Thanks
