BenQ monitor Setup?

$

Hi!

Got me a new PC monitor, but got one that was nice and high on the list in the "excellent" input lag section on display lag. However the monitor has lots of different settings, and I've no idea which will be the best for input lag.

It has a selection of pre-made settings and options for 3 custom settings.

Premade settings are:
  • Standard
  • Movie
  • Photo
  • sRGB
  • Eco
  • RTS 1
  • RTS 2 (For DOTA2 Games)

While the list of options for setting up the custom settings is quite large and largely I have no idea what will be optimal for SFV (other than Instant Mode will probably want to be on)

Unfortunately its not a monitor, like some of their others, where you can download pre-made settings, so it looks like I'll need to create my own, but I don't really know where to start with it. Does anyone know of a place I can just copy the settings from etc?

Thanks!

Reusing madcatz alpha boards in a new case

Theoretically could I replace the stick and buttons on the mad catz alpha and move the board, cords, buttons, and joystick into a new hardwood case and how would I do that?

Is it worth buying a newer Fight Stick?

I've been practicing using a stick for a couple of months and I'm starting to get the hang of it, it's made playing SFV a lot more fun.

I managed to get a second hand Madcatz Fightstick PRO for like £50. I can't find anything wrong with it, although the stick feels a little loose.

What sets the newer TE2+ stick apart from the one I have? Is it worth getting one?

Sorry if this has been asked before. I did a search and couldn't find my question so I'm guessing it hasn't been.

The Worst Joystick Ever

I recently picked up a PS1 "Skream" Twin Stick. This one doesnt have the logo. I mainly got it because it was affordable and seemed like it had a decent design that could facilitate a good case to mod for japanese parts if I wanted. But I was also interested in the joysticks. I noticed the larger ball tops. I found an imgur album and thought the design looked interesting. So I finally got the stick. and I found out quickly the problem with em. lets take a look shall we?

Ok looks pretty normal at first.
tumblr_odkkgbByod1uux520o2_1280.jpg
Ok! Lets trying moving it.
tumblr_odkkgbByod1uux520o3_1280.jpg
oh. oh boy. this throw. oh lord... lets take a look under the hood..

wow look at this massive hole needed for aforementioned huge throw... reminds me of something i just dont know what....
tumblr_odkkgbByod1uux520o4_1280.jpg

alrighty here we go. note the big circular actuator. it reminded me of the spanish joysticks I've seen every now and then which sparked my curiosity.
(also note the familiar logo on the switches for people who have modded sticks with chinese parts)
tumblr_odkkgbByod1uux520o7_1280.jpg

ok its out now!
tumblr_odkkgbByod1uux520o5_500.jpg

Now. I have some notes. "LS?.."
tumblr_odkkgbByod1uux520o8_1280.jpg
More look at. THE MIGHTY THROW.
tumblr_odkkgbByod1uux520o6_1280.jpg

Expository look of the parts. the spring is ultra stuff. it has to be. because at the base of the stick it has a lot of mass to keep in check.
The shaft is also engraved with chinese symbols and the logo which is slightly neat. also labeled LS... I guess because the shaft is the same width as an LS-32
tumblr_odkkgbByod1uux520o1_500.jpg

"But Caleb" I hear you cry "where is the pivot cup???" well
tumblr_odkkgbByod1uux520o9_1280.jpg

its metal and weird. and sealed in. and slightly spherical.

SO IN SUMMARY: the best way I can describe this stick is if you took a broom stick, put it in a bucket and tried to use it as a joystick. or maybe the 720 arcade joystick if it centered like a normal joystick.
it feels like if you did one SPD (if you could do it fast enough to do a SPD) you could've already done a double circle super.

If a kid had this I feel really bad if they had to "git gud" on these things.
and this is coming from a guy who plays with Happ/IL sticks so people think I'm already crazy and even I know this is trash. I have a wide range use of different joysticks. and this is the worst I have seen.

Stream channel ideas (youtube)

Hey guys, I'm working on a youtube channel and wanted to start adding commentary and stream matches. Any helpful ideas or tips or anything you all would like to see? I've been in the community since I was 15, now am 33 so I think it's time to give back xD. Let me know folks. Feel free to discuss any equipment you all think I should use or any topics that are lacking that would be of any benefit etc. At the moment only actual match footage is what I have, still need to comment and intro, music, topics to talk about etc.

So far looking into:

Canon 80d

Modding a budget controller. $27 NJ802 PS3/PC

This controller is a huge piece of shit not worth modding! Buttons are replacable but joystick not so much...

Saw a variety of these controllers with different plug options for under $30 when I was looking for a budget controller to throw some spare parts into. Ended up with going with a no name NJ802 for 27.50 on ebay...

s-l300.jpg

Fully expecting it to be not great. I got a seller to measure the buttons on it and it takes 30mms. I have 7 Hori Kuro (don't know where #8 went? lol) lying around unused. My plan is to put the new buttons minus 1 in, recable it so it uses a standard button scheme (notice it has all the L and all the R on the far ends of the 8 buttons with the face buttons in the middle. I didn't notice this until after i bought it, lol, so I have to redo the art too, for more reason than 1...) and to be honest I don't hate the shape of it.

I'll be sure to document how it goes, just wondering if anyone else has done this. I only modded one stick previously and that is the old Mad Catz PS3 sticks, the modability of those is well known and documented. This controller not so much so. It's 4 cm deep and uses a standard joystick, something that would be able to replace. What can i fit in this which is 4cm deep? Is a hayabusa a possibility for this depth? I never modded the VLX because I loved the hayabusa setup.

I was gonna get a ps3/pc replacement PCB but some of the cheaper ones don't support the PS button which is annoying IMO, so i figure i will keep the stock PCB and re wire it.

Wierd inputs in-game? (Software issue, not hardware?)

I don't think I've ever heard anyone talk about this before, but I've experienced it both on my PS4 and copy of SFV, and on another PS4 & copy (with a different stick, although also Brook). Before I get into it, I'll note I'm using a Brook universal fighting board, am playing on PS4, and have never had these issues or anything like these issues outside of SFV.

There are 2 weird input things I've been experiencing/noticing off and on for probably the past 4 months, but one of them yesterday really seemed bizarre, prompting this thread and if anyone else has had these issues.

1) Unresponsive menus / directionals. This happens more frequently than the second, and I've seen it happen on 3 separate consoles; the menu will lock up, but if you press the Playstation button you'll get the Playstation menu with full movement and control. Enter the game again, still locked up. Sometimes it fixes itself after time, sometimes I have to restart the game. Anyone else ever have this happen? (Especially annoying if it happens in between an online 2/3 so you can't select the run back button)

2) This is the more strange one, unresponsive/malfunctioning buttons. For a while, I had always thought my sticks heavy kick button was a bit sticky or something, as it would stop responding randomly and for random amounts of time, though I found it strange it only seemed to occur in SFV. However, yesterday something happened that made me think it's not a hardware problem at all, but almost certainly a software issue. I was in training mode, and my heavy kick stopped responding (semi-usual occurrence), but not only that, my button wired to all-kick AND set to all kick IN GAME was reading as (light kick + medium kick). I had to double take, because I thought at first my PCB must be goofed, but then I realized that if it's set in game to be all-kick, it doesn't matter what button it's wired to, it's clearly the game that's not working.

Has anyone else had downright bizarre input drops like this while playing SFV? I don't understand how the game can input only 2 kicks when I press a button mapped in game to all kick. The only thing I could think is maybe the actual heavy kick button was somehow being released when the all kick was pressed, and the negative edge input made the game not display it (???)

I also took poorly shot video if that might help, but won't upload it unless people are curious because it's potato quality snapchat footage I sent to some people as it was happening yesterday.

Hitbox, triggers always on. Help

So I managed to get my hitbox working after installing the ps3ps4 board firmware from brooksaccessory.com, but now when I plug it in my hitbox always has one of the R2 or L2 buttons active. In x360ce the trigger registered as pressed always and only switches when I press the other trigger. Sometimes that doesn't even change the pressed trigger.
I don't think it's the buttons since they all make the same name and return to place. Anyone know how to fix this problem?

PS4/XboxOne stick for $120 mark? (for kof14)

Im set on sticks for now, but my brother is looking for a stick to play KOF and to use when he picks up a XboxOne. Are there any decent sticks in the $120 mark range that will play on both systems? I know i can mod a stick with a brooks board, but hes looking for something he can just buy and play with now. The only thing ive seen is the Mayflash F3000 but that thing looks so small. But it will be in his price range once he drops in a jlf and some buttons.
LMK if there are any promotional things happening soon too if possible, i dont keep up with sticks since i dont need any.

thanks

edit-
Can anyone confirm if these work with the legacy driver on KOF 14
-ps3 cthulhu board
-ps2 to ps3 inpin (i have both versions if that matters)

Razer Atrox dual modding problem

Hello there,

thanks for your attention, and i hope this is the right section to write this post.

i've a problem here. I'm dual modding an Atrox Xbox One arcade stick from Razer with a Hori Mini 4 PCB.
I added a neutrik USB adapter to have one cable for each pcb.
Now, both pcbs are common ground, so i use the classic commond ground wiring to connect ground and signals.
But, when i connect the usb or the atrox cable, buttons work well but the stick is not working. every direction i push is wrong, only UP is right.
I tried EVERYTHING.
Could you help me to find the problem please?
Thanks,

Mast

I was reading an article on twitch muscle and essentially when it comes to speed arm > wrist which suggests this could advantageous and wondering if this has been done already before going through the trouble of fabricating one.

Hello everybody,

If anyone is curious about this fight stick I made a quick review of it. This is the fight stick that SF player Laugh created and I believe Infiltration used this stick before he got sponsored by Razr.

PS...I'm not an expert at using the fight stick so please go easy on me :) Let me know if you have any questions...Thank you!

KOWAL™ 1MM OVERSIZE ACTUATOR FOR SANWA JLF SERIES JOYSTICKS

Has anybody tried these.

I can see how it would work. I have used over sized thumb pads for my controllers and it makes a difference. I would like to know if these Kowal actuators are reliable though.

Side question. Has anybody used one of these in conjunction with the heavier spring option in a JLF.

Need a new PS4 stick for GG Revelator... problems with my Q4 Raf

$

I previously had a Qanba Q4 RAF and was having some... issues. If I tried to move the stick from 7 to 3 (or reverse) or 1 to 9 (also in the reverse), it would, about 60-70% of the time fail to actuate properly and register a diagonal, leaving me fucked and dropping the combo or move. I was told that this is just because I'm new or that my execution is off, but it would do this even in a technical setting just moving the stick and watching the input. I made a video of it here. In this I am doing nothing but holding the stick and moving from corner to corner. Not attempting moves or combos or anything. Not even watching the screen.

Suffice to say though, after enough raging, the Q4 ... well it's no longer with us.

I am now having to decide on which stick to purchase as the successor, and I'm not really sure where to turn. I've heard a great many things "Oh this problem is fixed with an octagonal gate!" or "Only dumb fucks use octagonal gates!" to "Get a stick that has 8 buttons for directionals instead of 4"...

Could use some direction. Against my better judgement, my budget is around $150-200 for a replacement so I can continue to play rage inducing fighting games.

Any suggestions? I know there is the "Buying a stick?" thread, and I looked through it, but the layout is pretty confusing and hard to tell what is what. One stick showed a + for a Sanwa joystick, while another showed just a = as if it didn't matter. Not quite sure what the weighting is, so I was hoping to get a better discussion going on finding a good option.

Hey,

I bought this stick recently and it seems to get "stuck" so my characters keep walking left or right. I have to center the stick after certain combos. Anyway, is this a common issue you guys have noticed or did I just happen to get a not so great sale on ebay? :/

Thanks for your help!

Reliable DPDT switches?

I was wondering if anyone could recommend a quality DPDT switch or and where they get them from. I have used these from a seller on Amazon and have had to replace 2 out of 4. One didn't work out of the box and the other 2 started giving me issues a few months after the install. Needless to say, it is a pain having to go back in and replace these. I'm planning on ordering another batch but want to get some feedback before I do. Thanks

Joystick causes my fightstick to disconnect and reconnect

$

Hey all, I'm new to fightstick repair and I have acquired an awesome Street Fighter IV TE fightstick for the xBox 360. I play SFV on PC. The only problem is when the joystick moves up and to the left, it will disconnect the controller. The controller will reconnect after about 2 seconds. I've done some research and it seems like the PCB or the microswitches might need to be replaced. I'm just not sure if this will fix my disconnecting issue because I don't have another joystick to troubleshoot the issue. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!
