Parts of my joystick are glued tight together, how do I approach this?

I want to install a different joystick into my Madcatz SC5 stick but the problem is that the cable connecting the joystick to the PCB is glued to my joystick. I cannot remove it what should I do? Also my joystick has a bunch of red glue on the screws not sure if this is common but it wouldn't matter too much anyway since I'm replacing the stick.

I ordered this stick a week or so ago. Should I just ask for a replacement? Quick answers would be appreciated as I cannot return this stick anymore past a certain deadline.
