PS2 Classics (PSN) Custom PCB Compatibility Help

Hey SRK, so I've finally got my custom designed, built from the ground up arcade cabinet running and 90% functional. After all this time, I just want to sit the hell down and play some CvS2. Unfortunately for some universally cosmic evil reason my MC Cthulhu's don't properly respond with CvS2 (PSN). I've dropped some pleas here and there in other threads inquiring for some feedback but the most logical response I've heard is that the most recent PS update screwed around with third-party controllers. (OF COURSE!) When I load it up, there is no PS button activity, everything else works until you get to the character select screen and during gameplay in which the directional function literally stutters, staggers, and or frame-skips. It's like some weird half-ass nexus between analog and digital. That and with the lack of the PS button activity, you're stuck and can't exit. Desperate struggle indeed, hermanos.

So long story short, I would like anybody who fits these two sets of criteria to just take a minute and do a quick test and let me know what my options are.

Criteria A: You have CvS2 (PSN) and an MC Cthulhu, please just turn it on and tell me what happens control wise regarding the buttons/stick.
Criteria B: You have CvS2 (PSN) and a PS360+, if you also please turn it on and tell me what happens control wise, same as above.

I'm trying to figure out if there's really nothing I can do about it with the MC Cthulhu and if switching to PS360+ is my only other option before purchasing an old PS2 and dusting off my CvS2 PS2 disc. I really wanted to reserve the extra space in my arcade cab for the PS4 but it's gonna be some hilarity if I have a PS2, PS3, and PS4 inside one cab. -_-

Thanks in advance, I really appreciate it. Had a couple guys over for some CvS2 resurrection and instead we spent the time jerk-assing around trying to figure it out before relegating to using the DualShock3's; which very much sucked. Help a brutha out!
